Propane Fire Pit
Fire pits are outdoor containers used to control a fire for entertainment or outdoor cooking. They are available in many different shapes, sizes, and prices. There are several types of fire pits you can use for your home. A propane fire pit has several advantages over a wood fire pit. They are cleaner than wood and are great for in town neighborhoods where wood fires have been banned because of being a fire hazard. A propane fire pit could be the answer if you want that outdoor fireplace experience.
One of the most popular designs for a propane fire pit is the chimenea design. It consists of a large circular tub about 3 feet tall. Usually this type of propane fire pit is made from ceramic, but it could be made out of anything including stone or cast iron such as a cast iron fireplace would be. With this type of propane fire pit the fire is fed through a frontal opening. It’s a simple design and can vary in sizes from a large patio chimenea all the way down to a small version that can sit on your table outside.
In addition to the chimenea design, propane fire pits come in all shapes and sizes. Some of the smaller propane fire pits are simply small bowls with metal supports. These are generally copper, but again could be made with any other metal as well. They are usually covered with a screen to keep the flames and sparks in while letting the air come in to keep the fire fueled. These portable fire pits are great for camping, or at the beach, or at the cabin when you’re hunting, or in the backyard. You get the idea. Depending on what model you get, you might be able to get portable propane fire pits that have a rotisserie spin bar or a grill grate so you can cook hamburgers.
Natural gas fire pits also exist, but you have to hook them up to your house’s natural gas line, so by definition they are permanent and not portable. They are still really good however, and is something you should consider if you don’t need the portability, as they tend to be nicer.
